Deidra Goodwin (Any/All) is an experiential education practitioner who is excited about further bridging the gap between research-informed practice and practice-informed research to create more experiential opportunities for all people, with all people in mind from the start. Deidra has a BA in Integrated Studies from Florida Gulf Coast University and an MS in Experiential and Outdoor Education from Western Carolina University and is a first-year PhD student at Penn State pursuing dual degrees in Recreation, Park, and Tourism Management and Transdisciplinary Research on Environment and Society. Deidra is also the Outdoor Adventure graduate assistant with Penn State Campus Recreation. Deidra is excited about all things related to reflection, equitable access to outdoor and green spaces, and the humanity and opportunities for connection that these bring to everyone. Deidra’s research interests include exploring how outdoor connections are a resource for navigating climate grief, the ways in which people form relationships with the natural world, critical self-reflection, and creative processes as methodologies. Outside of academic work, Deidra can be found engaging in a personal favorite form of practicing experiential learning: competitive dog sports.
