Bio
He/him/his
I currently oversee an environmental education program at one of Texas State University’s six research centers – The Meadows Center for Water and the Environment. My research interests include mindfulness, nature connection, and engaged ecology. My PhD is in Recreation and Leisure Studies from the University of Georgia. Our chief conservation strategy at The Meadows Center is to provide formative, meaningful nature connection experiences for our faculty, staff, students, and visitors. We serve nearly 120,000 visitors annually with 30,000 visitors being local and regional school children, and half of those children originating from Title One schools. We believe without having emotive, intellectual, and relevant connections with nature, the likelihood that one will advocate, defend, conserve and sacrifice for the environment is low. My PhD is in Recreation and Leisure Studies from the University of Georgia.
